After hip surgery, you have to schedule several post-op appointments. There are many and they do depend on when you will have the time to travel back to vail, but when I had my hip surgeries I came back at the 3 week mark, 2 month mark, 6 month and so on. Since we are still here in Vail, Shae was able to see Dr. Philippon today for a 3 day post-op appointment, just to check that everything is going well and looking good.
While waiting for Dr. Philippon, sleeping beauty assumed the postion once again. She was lying on the table, and having full on conversations with my mom and I and then suddenly she stopped mid sentence and was fast asleep. And then, another couple of minutes later, she woke up and started talking again. She seems to have verbal diarrhea, with all the medication she is on. It is very funny, because some of the things she keeps talking about is incredibly random.
The Comfort of the Rubber Band:
When you've had the hip surgery, you are not allowed to externally rotate until your protocol allows you to do so. So, when you are lying down, you cannot allow your leg to rotate outwards because it affects the healing of the joint capsule. So, you have to wear rubber bands or anti-rotational boots or you have to velcro a barrel in between your feet, in order to avoid the foot from rotating outwards.
Dr. Philippon said that Shae is looking really good and she should heal nicely and will have a good recovery. He took a picture with her and said that the two of them should be in an AD for Nike.
