One of the hardest parts of having the FAI hip surgery, is having to deal wtih trying to move your leg. You are so swollen and stiff that you are unable to move your leg on your own. It is also important that you DON'T try and move it on your own because you will most probably end up with hip flexor tendonitis. So, when it comes to getting in and out of a car, in and out of bed, bending, and trying to get dressed or put on your shoes, you will need someone to help you with moving your surgical leg. It is once again, REALLY REALLY important to not move your leg on your own because you will just end up with problems.
With that said, here is a video of what it is like to move the hip patients leg. They have to help out too, and they do so by using their upper body and their non surgical leg. While doing that, the care taker or whoever is with you, will lift the leg. And the patient will have to put complete weight of their leg into the persons hands, and just let the leg go.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you still see comments on here, but I just wanted to try anyway and leave a comment thanking you for doing all this while your sister was going through this surgery and recovery! I am actually on day 5 myself of recovering from the same procedure as your sister, and there is SO MUCH on this blog that I did not know. As a result, I am so thankful that I found this blog before my surgery and have been able to follow along and learn so much as I go. Thank you so much for doing all of this so that those of us going through the same thing know how to recover the right way!!
