And so the fun part begins

The morning after surgery, can definitely be one of the hardest parts of having the surgery. The epidural wore off for Shae around 2:30 this morning, and pain did start to come back, so Shae was given some percocet and other meds through her IV. My dad stayed with her last night until 6 this morning when my mom went back to the hospital to help with the next shift.

After the epidural is over, the catheter and the epidural needle has to come out as well.

And then comes a challenge, to make that fatal walk to the restroom. The nurses help you put your hip brace on, and then help you walk with your crutches or in the wheelchair to the restroom. Shae was very lucky that her hospital room was directly across from the restroom, so she made it and did just fine.

After that, Shae got dressed and ready for physical therapy. They came to pick her up in the wheelchair and brought her downstairs to Howard Head Sports Rehab Center. Shae has two of my favorite hip physical therapists, Lindsay and Jenna. Lindsay helped me with both of my hip surgeries, and now Lindsay and Jenna, will be Shae's two main therapists while we are here in Vail as well.
